Obverse
On the obverse of all new British Gold Britannia Coins feature the effigy of King Charles III. The back of the Britannia 1oz shows the following labels: The name of the regent “Charles III DG” (Dei Gratia – meaning Grace of God), “Rex, Fid, Def” (King of The British territories, Defender of the Faith) and the face value “50 Pounds”.
Reverse
The reverse features the internationally recognised original portrait of Britannia by Philip Nathan. Once used as a term to describe the British Isles and then used as a female personification of British people, Britannia is an imposing figure. She wears a Corinthian helmet in defence of the island. Her trident wields control over the seas of the English Channel, and her shield featuring the Union Jack is ready to hold back any invader.
